In life, there will always be one passion that you have been married to for so long, you forget when you fell in love with it. For singer/songwriter/composer Alyssa Campbell, that passion has always been music. At the tender age of 5, Alyssa fell head over heels for music, and as she grew her love for music grew with her. Today, Alyssa has become an award winning singer/songwriter, an accomplished pianist and composer.

In July of 2014, Alyssa’s original song (co-written with her sister, Emma) was among the winners of Anderson University’s Orangehaus Music Business Camp’s songwriting competition, and they were given the opportunity to record the song at Gaither Studios. Their song entitled “See Me Now” was released on iTunes fall of 2014. Currently, Alyssa is the lead singer and pianist in her four-piece band. Her band was selected out of over 700 submissions to provide entertainment on the Main Street Stage at the 2016 Indiana State Fair. Also, Alyssa has been invited to play for multiple Chick-fil-a VIP events, performed her song “Windy City” as a featured artist with the Campbell Jazz Continuum, and she was a featured artist on The Herald Bulletin’s “Unplugged” series.

For the past eight years, Alyssa has studied piano performance and piano pedagogy with renowned pianist Dr. Reginald Rodgers. Under his mentorship, Alyssa grew as a pianist and has been called upon to perform with artists such as husband and wife country duo, Cook and Belle. When she isn’t playing piano, Alyssa is helping the next generation learn about music at The Slick Music Studio where she has become a sought after piano instructor.

In addition to being a singer/songwriter and a pianist, Alyssa is also an award winning composer. In 2013, her first solo piano work “Memory” took first place in the Original Composition category of the Young Hoosier State Piano Competition.  For the past three years, she has been studying music composition with critically acclaimed composer Dr. Caroline Ahn. Under Dr. Ahn’s teaching, Alyssa composed her three movement suite titled “Musica Universalis,” which went on to win the IMTA Opus Composition Competition in the Young Artist division. Besides writing original works, Alyssa also creates custom arrangements for some clients. Recently, she composed an arrangement of seven patriotic tunes for former touring Broadway actor Gary Hofmeister.

Someone once said, “Music is not what I do, it is who I am.” For Alyssa, this quote describes her relationship with music perfectly, and it doesn’t look like they will be breaking up anytime soon.

Alyssa’s brand of pop music is undeniably influenced by jazz and is a perfect blend of harmony for your head, melody for your heart and beat for your feet.
